May 2016:
Machinery Update reports on how an Italian and British partnership will bring benefits to a major UK food manufacturer’s centralised warehouse. Pictured here, is a previous installation involving robotics technology supplied by PHS UK, which has provided operator-free operation. Italian manufacturer Trascar and its UK agent Phoenix Handling Solutions (PHS) has secured a multi-million euro order from a British food company, for an automated case handling and palletising system that puts robotics at its heart.
This British food producer of an historic brand, has selected Modena-based Trascar as a technology partner for the installation of its first automated palletising system at its plant. The multi-million euro order will be installed by the end of the year.
This new order consolidates the presence of both PHS and Trascar in the UK, where in little more than two years of doing business together, they have already acquired several orders for complex systems of ever increasing value.
The new order will involve the planning, the design, the assembly and testing of an articulated robotic palletising system which is connected to a series of conveyors and flow diverters, pallet wrapping and pallet labelling equipment.
CENTRALISED PALLETISING AREA:
The line will handle packs from production to the new area assigned for automated centralised palletising.
When complete, the pallets will be automatically stretch wrapped via Tosa 125 series high speed ring wrapping machine, labelled and then transferred into a new warehouse.
Automatic shuttles will completely automate the pallet handling aspect, which will be fully automatic without any operator intervention necessary.
The system is currently at the planning phase, but will manage simultaneously up to eight pallet building positions, for a wide variety of case dimensions and stacking patterns at a high output.
This important order was obtained thanks to the strong business partnership established by Trascar and PHS, a company used to designing complete solutions for the UK market.
“We have already gained many blue chip references over a long period of time,” explains Sales Director Andrew Lawless of PHS.
